1. How to get a quote and place your order:
At AhoyCaptain, we are happy to engrave your special item, or you
can choose from our extensive selection of engravable items. If you don’t
see exactly what you are looking for, just ask. We have many
more products available than are shown on our web site.
The price of each engraving job will vary based on your specific
requirements. Therefore, we will need to quote each job individually.
Getting a quote for your engraving order is easy when you
follow these guidelines:
Please Note:
A 50% deposit will be required at time of order.
Payment may be paid by cash, check, money order, American Express,
Visa, MasterCard or Discover.
Getting your quote and placing your order by phone:
You can phone our office at 888-464-5581. You will be asked
to provide the number of the item you would like, the font type
style and type case you prefer (see the list below), and how
the personalization should read. We will be able to immediately
quote your job and place your order. We are open Monday-Friday
from 8:00am-6:00pm EST.
Getting your quote by fax:
Simply download the
engraving quote form and fill out the required information.
Fax the completed form to our office at 866-454-7459. We will
call or fax you with a quote.
Getting your quote by email:
You can simply send an email to
order@ahoycaptain.com.
In the email, please tell us the number of the item you would
like, the font type style and type case you prefer (see the
list below), and how the personalization should read. We will
call or email your quote.
2. What is the cost of engraving?
Generally, engraving is $6 per word - for example:
- the boat name "Top Times" would be two words or $12
- while "Dr. Tom Jones" would be three words or $18
The price of each engraving job may vary based on your specific
requirements. Therefore, we may need to quote your job individually.

3. Can you engrave logo artwork? What is the cost of engraving
artwork? What type of artwork do I need to supply?
Yes, we can engrave artwork as long as it meets our specifications.
The cost of engraving a logo will vary depending on the complexity
of the artwork, the quantity to be engraved and the quality
of the artwork files supplied. We will need to see the final
artwork to quote a price.
For custom engraving of logos, etc please supply a vector
file in eps, pdf or ai (Adobe Illustrator v8.0 or below) format.
All fonts should be embedded and converted to outlines. Artwork
must be a sharp black image with no shading, gradients, or shadows.
A $75.00 logo set-up fee will apply for files that are not
supplied in a usable format.
4. What font types do you offer?
We offer 23 of the most popular font types and 4 type cases
that can be used. They are listed below.
5. How many characters can be engraved and what size are the
fonts?
Each item has a limited number of characters that can be
engraved. The font size is determined by the number of characters
we are engraving. The more text engraved the smaller the font
size.
6. Where will the engraving appear on my item?
The engraving location depends on the item you are engraving.
In most cases the engraving is done in the center of the item.
However, for some items this will vary.
