'Super' SHIPBOTTOM Frequently Asked Questions
Q; Describe Super Shipbottom
A; Super Shipbottom is a Hard Ablative Copolymer Multi-Season Antifouling Bottom Paint with nearly 2/3 of the dried surface always very pure Cuprous Oxide i.e.. Copper! In plain English it means that the paint wears away very slowly, will not die when stored out of the water for up to 3 years and won't build up and have to be removed.
Q; Is Super Shipbottom compatible with other paint?
A; Super Shipbottom can be applied over other paint and other paints can go over Super Shipbottom because we make it boater friendly by using a completely different solvent than anyone else. In fact you don't even have to sand old paint unless it is shiny the way vinyl looks!
Q; How long will Super Shipbottom last when left in the water?
A; A typical one coat application with one complete coat and a second on the waterline will last 12 to 15 months in almost 99% of areas. A 2 coat application should last twice as long and most area will exceed these estimates but there are always exceptions.
Q; What is the coverage?
A; Coverage depends on the condition of the bottom. A rough surface will take more paint than a smooth surface. Under ideal conditions,
Q; Can Super Shipbottom go over soft ablative paints?
A; If the boat has been aggressively pressure washed Super Shipbottom can be applied over the rest of the paint because we have a chemical etcher that controls the surface.
