Snagging a jib sheet on your cowl vent while tacking can be dangerous and costly. It can cause damage to your rig, to the cowl vent and surrounding deck, and possibly cause you to lose control of your vessel. Fully 20% of the cowl vents we sell are bought as replacements for cowls which have been torn out and launched over the side by errant jib sheets and other lines. Dorade Guards help prevent jib sheets, vangs and lines from snagging and damaging the cowl vent

Our Dorade Cowl Guards are constructed of highly polished 1'' diameter, type 304 stainless steel tubing, beautifully tig welded and machine polished to a high luster. For extra strength and protection, heavier 0.065 wall thickness is used.

How to Install Dorade Guards

All custom dorade guards are supplied with standard deck sockets.
Each deck socket is highly polished, cast 304 stainless steel designed for 7/8'' or 1" tubing. The Weldable Deck Socket is ready to be welded, while the 90 Degree Deck Socket is secured with (2) tightening set screws.

A small amount of tube cutting may be required to achieve the correct height for the dorade and cowl vent because the guards are generally shipped slightly higher than what will is needed for installation.

Mounting instructions are included. Fasteners are not included.
