Every boat owner knows that shock and chafe can quickly destroy almost any part
of a boat, often creating dangerous situations at the worst possible moment. The
sudden loading of rigging and hardware on a boat can often spell disaster. Over
time bolts, cleats, shackles, lines, blocks, chain and pulleys can weaken and break
due to continuous shock loading while in use. A SHOCKLES will keep a strong, constant
pressure on whatever you attach it to. The SHOCKLES patented design reduces sudden
impacts to your tackle and rigging thereby preserving the life of all your boat's
components.
Do you dock in a tidal area? Do you have trouble setting the right length dock
lines to account for tides? Have you seen spider web cracks in the fiberglass around
a boat’s docking cleats? That doesn’t have to happen to you. Even in a marina, waves
and chop from wind and other boats can constantly put a shock load on your cleats
and dock lines. Eliminate this shock by simply rigging a SHOCKLES on your dock lines.
Keep your boat quiet, safe and happy.
The normal way to rig a SHOCKLE as a dock-line snubber is to attach the SHOCKLE
to your dockline using our LineGrabber take a clove hitch in the line, attach the
SHOCKLE, take another clove hitch approximately 150% to 175% of the SHOCKLE length,
clip the SHOCKLE to it, then fasten the free end of the line to either boat cleat.
A far better solution to tying knots in your dock-lines is to use out patented
LineGrabbers.
This works well for dock-lines up to 5/8” in diameter. For thicker lines you
may wish to use a pair of webbing ‘prussiks’ to attach the SHOCKLE to the line.
This has the added advantage of making it quick and easy to attach, detach or adjust
the SHOCKLE. A prussik, similar to a rolling hitch, tightens on the line as weight
is applied, yet is easily loosened.
