The Frigoboat Capri 50F Air-Cooled Compressor is powered by the latest generation Danfoss BD50 and is equipped with Frigoboat's unique high capacity ducted, forced air aluminum finned condenser. The large air condenser ensures that the Capri 50F performs economically even when operating in high ambient conditions.

Air cooling compressors are less expensive and easier to install than water-cooled systems. They use a fan to blow air across the condenser to remove the heat. This air cooled compressor is equipped with a duct ring on the condenser for adding a flexible duct so that the heated air can be vented to a remote area in the vessel.

Keep in mind that air-cooled compressors need ventilation. They are not suitable for installing in an engine room or other hot, enclosed area. Given enough air to "breathe" air-cooled compressors are efficient, and almost maintenance free.

The basic parts of a air system are: compressor, evaporator and thermostat.

You can easily upgrade from the manual speed board to the Merlin II automatic speed control board: Merlin II automagic smart speed control (E52152).

The Capri 50F is best used with refrigerator boxes 7-18 cu ft or freezer boxes 4-9 cu ft. This is based on a box having good insulation, 3-4" for refrigerator boxes, 5-6" for freezer boxes.
